Sixteen candles lit in the memory of sixteen years wasted
How is it that she feels so much older than this?
Looking back, she realizes too much
And she cries as the truth sinks in
All these tears shed could never wash away the pain
It could never rinse these memories from her shattered mind
A little girl torn by the touch of a man
She was only a child...
Scarred inside and out
She shows grief with blood
Listening to words that can't possibly be her own
And all the while asking questions she already knows the answers to
Or does she?
She always seems to ask herself why
Why she let herself slip so far
Why she let this happen to her
Why she won't let this go
Someone, please tell her
It wasn't your fault...
Blinded by the blood that is everywhere
Thinking she has arrived at the final moment of what's meant to be
Teetering on the edge of a mind that failed
Pulling herself further into this place between life and death
It's quiet there
There is no sound except that of shattered dreams
Shattered by those who put her here
Here in this place of blood and tears
Is this where the line is crossed?
Is this where it can all be left behind?
Death welcomes her in a way the world could not
Is it worth it?
So many little girls lost in so much confusion
Did mommy's words hurt you too?
Living with all her mistakes
It seems neither of you had a choice
So it would seem...
Her life has hardly begun
But it seems to have already ended
She is only sixteen...
