Once
she painted on a large canvas
There was a sun
two stick figures, smiling
because they were happy
and she was happy
Ignorance is bliss

Once
on copy paper
she drew a heart on fire
Her favorite crayons were black and red
She wasn't too colorful anymore

Once
she scribbled in her notebook
a stick figure, frowning
because he was sad
and she was sad
She didn't smile too much anymore

Once
She drew lines on her skin
because she was an artist
and that was her work
Painting on a canvas of pain

Once
She spelled "help" with aspirin
Chased it with a bottle of vodka
Mommy told her to die
She knows best
