The world is painted in black and white
Except for the red that flows from my wrist Everyone is happy is this picture of mine Except for the one who slits their wrist This expression shows what everyone fakes And how no one wants to realize the truth They turn their backs on the ones they love Just to make them seem as ordinary as you A little girl is lying through the sheets of her bed As the white of them turns to red A little boy is getting rid of his food In the same house that his mother once stood The secrets that these children hide Are eating them alive inside And they turn their backs on the ones they love Just to make them seem as ordinary as you The world is painted in black and white Except for the red that flows from my wrist Everyone is happy in this picture of mine Except for the one who slits their wrist Open your eyes and really look close For you'll see not many are as happy as they seem Then the ones they love turn their backs on them And do not face the truth that haunts them deep down inside A housewife swallows a few more pills To drop to the floor in the kitchen A grandfather lies in the bathtub Waiting for it to drown him The secrets that these grown ups hide Are eating them alive inside And they turn their backs on the ones they love Just to make then seem as ordinary as you The world is painted in black and white Except for the red that flows from my wrist Everyone is happy in this picture of mine Except for the one who slits their wrist Do you really think I'm that blind That you can just hide all you feel inside And not except me to wonder why You use all those clothes to hide your lies |
