How did I get caught up in this cycle of pain?
Did it fall from the sky like drops of rain?
The anger, the drugs and the violence
tore deep in my soul leaving nothing but silence

As time went by the silence tried to speak
but I wouldn't let it out not even just
for a peep
It poked it's head out from under the door
demanding a chance to even the score
I smacked it's face pushing it back inside
"You're not coming out", I beamed with pride
People would see you if you were on the outside
I can't let them know about my silence inside

It cried and it cried, "Please let me out, give
me a chance or I'll scream and shout"
The sharp razor's edge muffled the sound
pushing the silence deep down into the ground

After awhile back out it came
screaming and calling me all kinds of names
Only a "coward", a "looser" and "creep" would muffle my sound pushing it down so deep
Once again, the sharp razor's edge pushed it down
over and over muffling the sound
The sound of silence coming up
from the ground

Thus begun this cycle of pain
Evaporating like drops of rain
Never ending, forever to remain
my one and only cycle of pain
