....Strong, smart, funny, happy, and even a confidant are words you
could describe her mask as, but if you look close enough her mask will disappear. ....Her eyes are deep and show no emotion, besides the sadness that follows her. Her smiles are painted on with careful strokes. One wrong stroke and her masquerade will be revealed. ....She spends her night along in here room with tear filled eyes. Her attempt to show someone her real self had failed. She retreats into her cell that hides al her secrets. Each time finding it safer in her cell and harder to trust. ....Her tears dry and she fades into a dream so simple to most but so hard for her to obtain. A dream of happiness and expectancy. Years it has been since she had felt those two things. ....She awakes finding it harder to rise and her will weaker than the day before. Her eyes find the mirror that gives her a haunted greeting. She stares back at the pale face she recognizes as her own. Her hollow eyes are the only key to her cell. ....She rubs her eyes and leaves the safety of her room to greet the blind family she shares her life with. ....Her mother greets her with a bright smile, quite unlike her daughter's. Her mother asked how her night was. She simply replies that her night was okay. Her mother mentioned something about looking pale. She shook her head to dismiss the thought. ....She exited the kitchen to retreat to her room. Her will to keep her mask was fading. So early in the day to start painting her mask, but she has to if no the she would become and outcast. ....Her mind telling her mouth to smile, and her eyes screaming for help. Elizabeth walked out of the house and entered a play that had no ending. |
