Red stripes painted on white walls,
white walls hidden by black curtains.
The small room no one ever enters,
the small room no one wants to see.
The room a prison and a sanctuary,
protects me but never sets me free.

I paint red stripes for you,
and for all the things you do.
I paint red stripes for me,
and all I've come to be.
I paint red stripes to keep it clean
when you use the room for storing things.

I sit here alone,
a single room in a destroyed home.
Red stripes painted on white walls,
white walls hidden by black curtains.
Don't wait until the walls are red
to come visit me.
